Something free to hand the people you work with
For careers services, job clubs and employment teams. Free for them and for you: no account, nothing to install, nothing to sign.
What it does
Most applications go through a job portal and are sorted by software. An email to a real person at the company is read by a person. The hard part is finding the address.
Type a company's name or paste a job advert at recruited.org.uk/find. It reads the advert and the company's own website and shows the real address the company publishes, best first, and can write a short letter to it. It never guesses an address, and says plainly when there isn't one.
Where the method comes from: one person's own job hunt, counted. 171 applications, 32 replies. Every figure, including the bad months, is on the numbers page.
A paragraph for your newsletter or noticeboard
A one-page handout
An A4 page with the address and a code to scan, to print or send as a PDF: open the handout, then print it (or "Save as PDF" from the print window).
Also free, for the same people
- Does my cover letter sound like AI? The stock phrases and American spellings that give a letter away.
- When should I follow up? The date to chase an application, and the date to stop.
- The playbook: the whole method, written down.
What it will not do
- Guess an email address, or write to anybody on its own.
- Ask for an account, a CV or contact details to use the finder.
- Sell or pass on anything typed into it. See privacy.
There is a paid version that finds jobs and sends the letters from the person's own email. Nobody needs it to use anything on this page.
